A Special Children's Church Service - every two weeks -
for ALL GOD'S CHILDREN

A non-denominational Christian service designed to engage children, and especially appropriate for children with Autism, ADHD, ADD, Down Syndrome or any other developmental, emotional or physical challenges.

  • Widest range of behaviors acceptable; sitting still and keeping quiet are NOT required
  • Short service (no longer than 30 minutes)
  • Optional Holy Communion (gluten-free wafers available)
  • Parent(s)/aides/siblings/relatives attend with children
  • All participation optional, as each child’s ability permits
  • Wheelchair accessible

Catering to short attention spans and a wide range of physical and emotional abilities, the service is a lively combination of music, prayer, Bible stories, movement and Communion.  The essential message of God's love and joy for all God's children is presented in a simplified, meaningful way that fosters inclusion.  We look to open a door to participation in a Christian experience of love and acceptance.

"We hadn't been back in church in quite some time", said a mother who brought her entire family, including a son with ADHD.  "It was great to come back 'home', as I call it.  The boys enjoyed the fact that they didn't have to be quiet, and it was much less stressful not to argue with them to sit still."        (Tara, attendee at another parish upon which the service at St. Andrew's in Harrington Park is based.)
